This Week ~ Note from Brenda
We've hit October already; the beginning of the final three months of 2009. This is also the time when we're likely to have more visitors to our site as moms have more free time during the week to indulge in a bit of "me time" online, so let's fluff up the "Welcome" mats and get them engaged in conversations with our communities! Be sure you're welcoming new posters and starting new conversations throughout the week; a fun poll or a quick, easy to answer topical question often helps new visitors ease their way into the boards. Visitors are often reassured by the visible presence of a CL name starting new conversations -- they may not dig down into a thread to see you responding to members, so having your cl-name next to a new conversation lets them know immediately that a leader is present, active and involved.
New visitors and veterans alike are more apt to engage in conversation on a board where the visible discussions are new and active. Open your boards and check them through the eyes of a first time visitor. Critique what you see... are the folders full of current conversation or are there ones with messages that are months old? Are the folder titles comprehensive or could they use a bit of a makeover? If you have any suggestions or simply want to brainstorm ideas and thoughts, please don't hesitate to let me know.
